Myofunctional Therapy
Myofuctional therapy is more than just correcting the appearance of crooked teeth. It involves going to the much deeper problem of muscle dysfunction, abnormal jaw growths and skeletal problems of the face which causes a host of other health issues such as headaches, breathing difficulties, improper tongue position and swallowing, to name a few. This therapy involves uses of myofunctional appliances like activators/ bionators/ twin blocks etc. for correction of the underlying skeletal/ muscular problems in the jaws and may train the tongue and facial muscles to help the muscles re-learn correct positions and functions. Correctly positioning the jaws, tongue, chewing and swallowing in the right way, and improved breathing, are some corrective measures that this therapy promotes. It is used with traditional orthodontics to treat an extensive range of issues related to muscles for an overall better oral health and restoring abnormal function to a normal one!
